Living in Mount Morris, Michigan: Schools, Commute, and Cost of Living

Mount Morris, Michigan is one of the most affordable, commuter-friendly small towns in Genesee County. Here's what daily life looks like — schools, drive times, costs, and the things only locals know.

Mount Morris, Michigan sits just north of Flint along the I-475 corridor, with a population of around 3,000 in the city limits and another 20,000+ in surrounding Mount Morris Township. It's small enough that you'll see the same faces at Meijer, big enough to have its own schools, parks, and full grocery shopping. If you're thinking about a move — or considering an affordable home in the community — here's the local guide.

Where Mount Morris is — the geography

Mount Morris is at the intersection of M-54 (N Saginaw Road) and Mount Morris Road, with I-475 access about a mile and a half from most of the city. ZIP code is 48458. The mailing address you'll see on most homes in our community is 9098 N Saginaw Road. Surrounding townships include Mount Morris Township to the west and Genesee Township to the east.

Schools — Mount Morris Consolidated School District

Most of the community area feeds into the Mount Morris Consolidated School District:

  • Mount Morris Junior/Senior High School — 7–12, ~750 students
  • Pinecrest Elementary — K–6
  • Central Elementary — K–6

The district participates in state schools-of-choice, so families outside the district sometimes choose Mount Morris schools as well. Carman-Ainsworth and Beecher districts are also within a short drive depending on exact address.
